Registration Statement– Small department low budget, desperately in need of body cameras. Thank you very much for any assistance or help you can give my agency.

Why has your Agency decided to start a body camera program?
Chief Taylor: We want to get body cameras for the protection of our officers and the general public. Using body cameras will keep both sides honest.

How do you believe a body camera program will benefit your officers, department and the community?
Chief Taylor: We will use the body cameras when dealing with the public and whenever we make a stop and if we ever get any complaints filed, we can review the video and back up what was said and who is telling the truth.

Are there any situations where having body camera video evidence would have made a difference in court cases or complaints against your officers?
Chief Taylor: We had a recent DWI case where it was a repeat offender who said the officers said insulting and offensive things to her. The officers said she made all that stuff up. If we had body cameras, we would be able to review exactly what was said and prove what happened.

Does your department have guidelines for a body camera policy?
Chief Taylor: We would use them on all stops and dispatch calls, also any interaction with the public. Also our officers would not have access to the video files, only myself and the Sargent would be able to access the videos for review.
