Why has your department decided to start a body camera program?
Chief Rogers: I can see body cameras becoming mandatory, so we’re trying to get ahead of the curve by finding a way to get them. Also using body cameras makes sense for liability protection.

How do you believe a body camera program will benefit your officers, department and the community?
Chief Rogers: Body Cameras will help us better serve the community and our officers by protecting citizens and personnel from false charges and from an officer doing something unlawful. So it protects both ways… for justice and injustice.

Does your department have guidelines for a body camera policy? If so, what would the policy be? When would officers be required to record, etc.?
Chief Rogers: We have a body camera policy in place, it’s been approved and added to our policy manual.
